73% of the electricity generated in July came from CO2-intensive fuels. Hydroelectric power plants with the lowest production since July 2022. On a year-on-year basis, hard coal and lignite with a decrease and increase in their share in the electricity mix by 3 percentage points, respectively.
COAL PRODUCTION AND SALES
COAL PRODUCTION – 3.63 Mt ↗️
COAL SALES – 3.29 Mt ↘️
Production increased noticeably (+9% m/m), thus exceeding sales by 340 thousand tonnes. The values of both these indicators are similar to those from July last year.
HARD COAL RESERVES
TOTAL – 13.0 Mt ↗️
HARD COAL RESERVES AT MINING SITES – 5.6 Mt ↗️
HARD COAL RESERVES AT MINING SITES, BELONGING TO POWER PLANTS – 0.23 Mt ↘️
HARD COAL RESERVES AT POWER PLANTS – 7.1 Mt =
The outweighing of production over sales is illustrated by an increase in stocks of 340 thousand tonnes. Rising reserves at the mines, which already stand at 5.64 million tonnes and are the highest since March 2021, are responsible for most of this increase.
EMPLOYMENT
NUMBER OF PEOPLE EMPLOYED IN MINING COMPANIES – 75 065 ↘️

COAL PRICES
COAL PRICE FOR ELECTRICITY GENERATION (PSCMI1) – 483 PLN/t ↗️
Coal for power plants became slightly more expensive. Exactly two years earlier (between July and August 2022), a period of historically high coal prices for power plants began with an 86% m/m jump.
COAL PRICE FOR HEATING (PSCMI2) – 562 PLN/t ↘️
