ELECTRICITY PRODUCTION FROM COAL
Coal-fired power plants with the lowest share in the generation mix ever – only 31.6% and the second lowest production ever – 4.25 TWh. A strong jump in gas generation – up 42% m/m to 1.67 TWh, with lignite (3.21 TWh) and PV (2.13 TWh) in second and third place.
COAL PRODUCTION AND SALES
COAL PRODUCTION – 3.43 Mt ↘️
COAL SALES – 3.50 Mt ↗️
Production fell 6% m/m while sales rose 6% m/m to 3.43 and 3.5 million tons per month, respectively. Mining values remain among the lowest on record.
HARD COAL RESERVES
HARD COAL RESERVES IN POLAND (TOTAL) – 13.2 Mt ↗️
HARD COAL RESERVES AT MINING SITES – 5.5 Mt ↘️
HARD COAL RESERVES AT MINING SITES, BELONGING TO POWER PLANTS – 0.23 Mt ↗️
HARD COAL RESERVES AT POWER PLANTS – 7.4 Mt ↗️
Reserves rose by 150 th. tons and are now only 280 th. tons short of last November’s peak. Stockpiles at power plants are responsible for virtually all of the increase.
EMPLOYMENT
EMPLOYMENT – 74 879 ↘️
Employment is down another month, this time by 186 FTEs and already down a total of 996 FTEs for the last 12 months. The number of people employed in coal mining is the lowest since September 2022.
COAL PRICES
COAL PRICE FOR ELECTRICITY GENERATION (PSCMI1) – 479 PLN/t ↘️ ↗️
Coal for the power industry has slightly decreased and costs 479 PLN/t or 22.13 PLN/GJ.
COAL PRICE FOR HEATING (PSCMI2) – 562 PLN/t =
For district heating, the price is virtually unchanged. With an almost identical price per ton, the price per GJ increased by 1% m/m – to PLN 23.51/GJ. This is due to slight differences in the calorific value of the coal sold.
