As a result of a change to the data-sharing system introduced by the Transmission System Operator PSE on 14 June 2024, power system demand data began to be published as net values. Previously, demand was reported as gross values, including international power exchanges and pumped-storage power plants.
In practice, this means it is not possible to compare data before and after this change directly.
As a result, several important questions arise:
- How did PSE communicate the methodological change to data users?
- Why has a consistent, historical dataset including both net and gross values (e.g., from 2015 onwards) not been published to date?
- How should users correctly compare current demand levels with historical data today?
We are taking steps to support the harmonisation of the dataset published by PSE to enable reliable, methodologically sound long-term analyses. We will keep you informed about further progress.
